A man accused of producing a controlled drug will appear in court today after Croydon police seized around 400 cannabis plants at a property in Selhurst last week.

Officers from Selhurst Safer Neighbourhood Team executed a search warrant at an address in Hampton Road around 11.20am on Thursday 11 February.

Milo Horvath, Warrant Officer in Croydon police, told ELL: “Approximately 400 plants were found at the address. Five rooms had been converted for growing cannabis.

“A male youth of no fixed abode was arrested at the address on suspicion of the production of a controlled drug.”

Officers posted images from the raid on Twitter yesterday. The images show hundreds of cannabis plants growing in different rooms of the house.

The officer team also documented dangerous electricity wiring that was installed in the house to help the plants grow, resulting in the electricity meter inside the house to bypass.

The accused man will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today, police said.
