About: Radio 1 DJ Phil Taggart brings you one of East London's newest club nights, Slacker.

For this edition, gritty rockers Pretty Vicious will topping the bill. From Merthyr Tydfil, they enjoyed their first spot at Glastonbury last year after exploding onto the scene with their first single, Cave Song.

They'll be playing alongside Hooton Tennis Club, Love Ssega, Girli and a whole host of other DJs.

This is an 18+ event.

About: Part exhibition, part festival, DARK: Festival of the unseen is the third exhibition organised by Jill Rock in collaboration with Hundred Years Gallery.

DARK is an exhibition featuring the work of 20 artists, and a programme of improvised music, performance and poetry. The title is there to be interpreted individually by participants and visitors alike. The exhibition features a hugely diverse range of visual art and performance, which will run alongside each other.

Poet in the City presents British Bangladeshi Showcase

About: Celebrating the hybridity and diversity in the work of many British Bangladeshi poets, this evening of performance poetry showcases some of the best in the field, from newcomers to more established voices. From themes of politics to folklore to hope and survival, the evening promises performances from "a multitude of genres, styles and generations."

The evening is part of Rich Mix's Freedom Week, celebrating the 45th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.

About: Croydon Comedy Club brings you a night of terrific stand-up once a month. Topping the bill this month is Ava Vidal, who has appeared on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, The World Stands Up, Edinburgh & Beyond and Channel 4 reality show Kings of Comedy. A former BBC New Comedy finalist, her work is dry, witty and satirical.

About: As part of the Fairfield Halls Lunchtime Series, renowned cellist Corinne Morris will play Schumann's much loved Frank Sonata, three beautiful pieces in their transcriptions for cello, and new composition, Heroic Elegy Op 57, by the upcoming composer Nimrod Borenstein.

Viv McLean will accompany her on piano.

About: This reggae all-dayer will feature sweet sounds by Wobbly Social Soundsystem in the beautiful garden of the Fox and Firkin all afternoon, with a luxury BBQ serving up a feast. After dark, the party really begins with sets from jungle legend Congo Natty, as well as as London-based Tippa Irie and more, until late into the night. Over 18s only.

About: This year marks the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death. In a couple of weeks, EastLondonLines will be marking the occasion with a series of features looking at our nations best loved playwright. 

This international evening of Shakespeare shorts, promises to exciting new twists on several Shakespeare plays, with performances by Campion College (Jamaica), Lewisham Youth Theatre, Kingsford Community School (Beckton), and hosted by the Hip Hop Theatre Company.
