A Hackney man is fighting for his life after chasing a suspected bicycle thief.
The man in his early forties collapsed in Wick Lane, Bow, on Saturday (May 7). A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told ELL: “He was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“At this early stage, it is believed that the man may have been chasing a suspected bicycle thief before collapsing. Officers from Tower Hamlets are investigating and enquires continue. There have been no arrests.”
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 7.29am following reports of a man collapsing on the street.

One witness tweeted that there was a “huge police presence from 8am” at Wick Lane.
He told the Evening Standard: “There were about six cars, one fire engine first thing. A neighbour saw a man being given chest compressions. They were looking for fingerprints in the entrance to a building’s garage.”
Police said they are investigating.
