Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man was “violently assaulted” in Lewisham town centre on Saturday night (April 30).

The man in his 20s was severely injured after being attacked around 9pm on Molesworth Street, Metropolitan police said.

“He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and is now being treated in a South London hospital,” a police spokesperson told ELL. “He remains in a critical but stable condition.”

The London Ambulance Service called officers to the scene at 9.40pm and the victim was immediately taken to hospital by paramedics.

Officers and cordons remained at the scene for more than eight hours after the assault.

So far no arrests have been made. The police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to contact them by calling 101.
