A female cyclist is fighting for her life after being involved in a car crash in Hackney in the early hours of today (October 15).
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash between a car and a cyclist in Mare Street at the junction with Amhurst Road shortly after 4am.
The 20-year-old woman cyclist has reportedly been taken to an East London hospital, suffering very serious head injuries.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found the 20-year-old female cyclist with a head injury. She was taken to an east London hospital where she remains with injuries thought to be life threatening or life changing.”
“The diver stopped at the scene. They were not arrested and are assisting police with their enquires”, a spokesperson for Met Police said.
To secure public safety, Mare Street was closed for several hours this morning between the junctions with Amhurst Road and Graham Road.
