A handful of independent businesses are expanding under Deptford station this October, creating an array of new shopping and eating destinations.

What initially started as a quirky café in a disused train carriage, Deptford Market Yard (previously the Deptford Project) aims to regenerate the high street with everything from a hairdressers to a bar which serves its cocktails in teapots.

Some of the businesses set to open were even founded in South East London. Including the sportswear store Childsdraw, founded by illustrator and original Deptford Project contributor Jess Child. Local florists The English Flowerhouse, hand printed garments from Plain Bear and African print specialists Gita’s Portal and Be London will also be found under the arches.

Lil Nan’s Bar is the first to open its doors to the public, serving tipsy afternoon teas and Deptford disco fries.

Deptford Market Yard will be confirming their full line up via their Twitter and Instagram accounts. The venue can be found on Carriage Way, Deptford.
