From singing carols to festive baking – family events this Christmas

This Christmas season there’s a lot of family fun to experience in the Eastlondonlines areas. With cinema, theatre and fun activities for all ages, boost your Christmas spirit for the “most wonderful time of the year”.

Lewisham

December 11, 10.30 – 11.30
Children and families are invited Honor Oak Park to paint, draw and create sculptures. There’s mulled wine for adults and plenty of Christmas songs to put you in the mood.

December 16, 7.30 PM
Blackheath Halls are putting on their annual Christmas concert for all ages. Various community groups will be coming together to performing carols for your ears only.

Father Christmas will visit St. Augustine’s Tower, Hackney’s oldest building, where children are able to tell him what they’d like for Christmas.

Hackney House are presenting a free sing-a-long screening of Disney’s Frozen with all little princesses and princes welcome to attend. Afterwards there will be a free film screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Grab the popcorn and feel festive.

Robin Hood Community Garden, are offering free gamily garden play days with board games from around the world. There will also be arts and crafts, face-painting, skipping, hula hooping and much more for kids at ages 6+.

December 12 and December 19, at 8 PM
The cosiest boutique cinema in Croydon, Spread Eagle Theatre, opens its doors for family and Christmas films. The cinema will show Mrs Doubtfire on December 12 and on the Miracle on the 24th Street on December 19.

Embrace the traditional with a carol service at St. Francis Church. The Soul Symphony Gospel Choir will take your breath away with their take on Christmas carols.

Tower Hamlets

December 17, 12-3PM,
For any little ones who want to take a picture with Santa and his elves this Christmas, Mile End Park are hosting St Nick on 17th December between 12pm and 4pm. You can also join in with festive baking and arts and crafts. There’s even a chance for everyone to join in a sing along with live Christmas music provided by the “Mary Lowe Swingtet”.

December 20 at 11am
Idea Store in Bow are putting on the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. Performed by Open Book Theatre Company, cosy up with friends and family and enjoy a traditional Christmas play.
