A fight in Kingsland High Street left a man with serious head injuries after he was attacked with a meat cleaver shortly after 3pm on Sunday.
The victim, believed to be in his mid 40s, was taken to hospital with numerous head injuries believed to be caused by the attack, however, the injuries are described to be neither life changing nor life threatening.
A 32-year-old man was arrested near the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is currently being held at an east London police station.
Members of the public were left in shock as the attack took place in the middle of the local high street.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “We were called shortly after 15:00hrs on Sunday, 26 February, to a fight between two men in Kingsland Road, E8. One of the men was reportedly armed with a knife.”
