What’s on this August Bank Holiday?

This August Bank Holiday weekend we’re going to look at the best events and activities the capital has to offer, scanning the whole of London for our Bank Holiday favourites.

Notting Hill Carnival

About:Notting Hill is undoubtedly the biggest and most spectacular event on the August Bank Holiday, in fact, it ranks very highly all year round. First held in 1965 this will be the 49th carnival, which has grown from a small celebration to an international event that spans over 20 miles making Notting Hill the second biggest carnival in the world.
This is an amazing opportunity to come together and celebrate London’s diversity experiencing food, music and dance from all around the world.

Smithfield 150

Location: Smithfield Market, London, EC1A 9PS
Date: 25-26 August
About: Come and celebrate the 150th anniversary of Smithfield Markets in a huge birthday party spread over six different festival areas. Curated by the Museum of London over 200 performers are coming together, taking over the markets in Smithfield as well as the surrounding area.

There’s loads to do with a whole range of artists playing on the main stage, a roller disco, fairground rides, a kids comedy club and an under 5s hang out. Full events listing and more and the festival can be found out here.

Wimbledon Park Food Festival

About:Why not spend this bank holiday enjoying some brilliant food and drink? Wimbledon Park Food Festival brings together over 45 stalls with a massive range of local and regional food, there’s cheese and charcuterie, sushi, a brilliant BBQ and a whole load more, all alongside a great range of drinks. DJ Carlo Rossi will be providing the soundtrack for the event, this is definitely a great way to unwind over the Bank Holiday weekend.

About:The world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course for adults is spending the August Bank Holiday in Alexandra Palace. The course, which is over 300 metres long, includes an 18m slide and a full sized adult ball pit, and with street food and artisan cocktails, you can make a whole day out of it.
