Armed police stormed a property on Clifton Rise, New Cross at 2.45pm today arresting three men, according to eye witnesses.

Neighbours said that the terraced house between New Cross Inn and Chick Chicken was raided by 10-15 heavily armed police officers from the front and back.

Both Clifton Rise and New Cross Road were closed during the operation but were open again by 3.30pm. The Overground was also diverted from New Cross Gate during the period.

Local shopkeeper Stefan said: “The whole street was full of heavily armed police. I heard shouting, the door being broken in and then about 20 minutes of it being tense.”

“I’m still a little on edge, I don’t know what they were dealing with.”

Cameron Dale, who had to remain within New Cross House as police entered the property told East London Lines he felt traumatised by the situation.

A local resident said that they saw three men arrested, but didn’t see their faces as they were being hidden by police.
