A Brick Lane bar and club will mark World Mental Health day today with a series of short films, live performers and panel discussions.
Organisers say the showcase – at 93 Feet East – will raise awareness on social, environmental and ethical issues through the use of short film. This production in particular will focus on psychological wellbeing.
Shorts on Tap Founder, Filippo Polesel told East London Lines: “We’d like the audience to be enlightened about a certain subject, in this occasion it’s mental health.”
10 October marks World Mental Health Day. The theme for this year is ‘Young people and mental health in a changing world.’
In honour of World Mental Health Day they have put together a showcase ‘Elephant in the room’, which will include a selection of ten short films from all over the world. Each of the films will be no longer than twenty minutes.
Despite the knowledge and awareness of mental health, alarmingly 70% of young people that suffer with mental health problems do not receive the appropriate support.
There will also be a surprise guest speaker; the Shorts on Tap team encourage all to ‘become part of the discussion, while enjoying qualitative short form content.’
