Two men, aged 19 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Kingsmead Estate in Hackney last week.

They have since been bailed until mid-December pending further investigation.

The victim, 25, who has not been identified, was taken to hospital and is now in a stable condition.

The Residents Association from Kingsmead Estate posted a statement: “We were shocked and saddened by the tragic stabbing that took place on Kingsmead Estate, in the morning of Thursday, 15 November in broad daylight. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family.”

The stabbing took place on November 15 before 10:58am when the police were called. They are appealing for witnesses for further information.

Detective Constable Sean Glas said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this attack or the events surrounding this attack to come forward and speak to police.

“Thankfully the victim is recovering from his injuries but the incident could have had much more serious consequences.”

The Residents Association continued: “We are deeply concerned that the estate might became a gang controlled area. We ask the police to put all their efforts to avoid this situation.

As the voice of the Kingsmead residents, we are always committed to work hand in hand with key bodies including the police to improve everyone’s safety.”
