Five Points Brewery hosted a games night for brain injury charity Headway East London on Wednesday at the brewery’s pub The Pembury Tavern.

The event included several board games such as Articulate, Connect Four, Dominos, Scattergories, Chess, Risk, Scrabble, and many more.

There was also a Challenge Headway East London contest, in which brain injury survivors had the opportunity to play with Headway staff to win a free pint, and a raffle with prizes.

Pembury Tavern have said: “Supporting an incredible local cause run by lovely people and getting everyone involved is at the heart of what we wanted to do.”

Headway East London works across 13 London boroughs offering specialist support and services for over 200 survivors, family, friends and carers in the local area each week.

The charity also promotes awareness and understanding of brain injuries by providing information for educational resources for universities and offers training to professionals.

Brain injuries accounted for 348,453 UK hospital admissions in 2016-17. 5,380 were in the four EastLondonLines boroughs:

Croydon – 1,976

Lewisham – 1,247

Hackney – 1,234

Tower Hamlets – 923

All the proceeds from the evening will go towards Headway East London to continue supporting brain injury survivors, their families and carers. Headway East London helped a total of 875 people last year.
