Scotland Yard has released CCTV images of a suspect wanted for questioning, following an unprovoked attack on a married couple last year.

The attack took places on the evening of Sunday October 7, when  the suspect boarded the 108 bus at Tunnel Avenue in Tower Hamlets.

As he was waiting to get off the bus, the suspect approached a 28-year old woman and punched her several times in the face in an unprovoked attack. Her husband, also 28, intervened but he was also attacked.

The suspect then used the emergency stop button to open the bus doors, and ran towards Cotton Street, in Poplar.

Both of the victims reported the incident to police and the bus drove to the next stop, where it remained until the police arrived.

The woman was left with a fractured skull, and the man sustained swelling and bruising to the face. They were taken to hospital in an ambulance where they received treatment for their injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male with short black hair and no facial hair, around 25-years-old and approximately 5ft 10inch tall. At the time of the offence, he was wearing a black jacket and trousers.

Detective Constable Lorcan Wolujewicz, of the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command said: “This vicious, unprovoked attack has left the victims very shaken, with one sustaining serious injuries. If you have any information which could assist this investigation, please get in touch.”
