Breaking: Person killed by train causes severe delays

A person who was hit by a train near Anerley station at 7am this morning was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identity has not been released as police are working to identify the deceased and inform the family; the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

All services were disrupted between Norwood Junction and London Bridge, and Anerly and Penge West stations were not being served by Southern services.

Major disruptions are expected to continue across Southern and Thameslink rail networks until 3pm today, Thursday. Affected routes include London Bridge to Norwood, London Bridge to Caterham, and Overground routes between London Bridge and Highbury and Islington and West Croydon and Crystal Palace. National Rail Enquiries has provided guidance on alternative routes on Gatwick Express services, London Buses, LNER services, London Overground and Underground services and more on their website.
