The United Kingdom goes to the polls in what is one of the most decisive and critical elections for decades and after a long and often divisive campaign.

Whether it’s Brexit, the environment, or the NHS this election will mark the beginning of an important period for this country. It may or may not solve the crisis over Brexit which has convulsed politicians and the public for the past three years.

Will we be exiting the EU by the end of January or have another hung Parliament and calls for a second referendum? Will both Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn survive? And how will these major national issues be reflected in the local vote here in London, where Labour dominates and where most people voted Remain in 2016?

Eastlondonlines will be bringing live rolling coverage from 10pm tonight, covering all the action and the results in the four boroughs in our area with reporters on the ground at the counts covering ten constituencies. And we will be keeping you up to date with events across London and the national picture. And you can also follow us on Twitter here https://twitter.com/eastlondonlines.

In Hackney North and South, Labour look pretty safe, but what affect will claims of anti-semitism do to those majorities? The same goes for the three constituencies in Lewisham, traditionally labour but what affect might Brexit play?

Tower Hamlets is also a labour stronghold, this looks to remain the case for Rushanara Ali in Bethnal Green and Bow, but what about Apsana Begum running for Labour in Limehouse and Poplar after facing controversy on her campaign? Could she be challenged by Liberal Democrat Andrew Cregan?

Finally Croydon; whilst North may generally be Labour, and South Conservative, Central Croydon may well play an important part in this election. What will happen if the Remain vote is split?

Politicians have been out and about in our boroughs in a final push to get people to vote:
