The victim, believed to be 17, was attacked with a knife whilst travelling on Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, at around 8:30pm Sunday evening (March 8).

Having been found with multiple injuries, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:07pm.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police have said: “Enquiries are under way to inform his next of kin.”

They also said that no arrests had been made and a crime scene remains in place whilst “enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Police have put in place a Section 60 Stop and Search order until 1 pm Monday, March 9 for the surrounding South East London areas: Selhurst, Thornton Heath, Bensham Manor, South Norwood, Woodside, Addington North and Addington South.

The incident comes just six weeks after 16-year-old Louis Johnson was stabbed to death outside East Croydon Station.

Local residents have reacted to the news on Twitter. One said: “My heart goes out to the family of the poor boy who lost his life to another senseless stabbing in Croydon last night.”

“When are the government going to do something about this knife frenzy,” said another.
