#FoodForThought: An ELL investigation into food hygiene

Nearly 800 businesses have failed food hygiene inspections over the last 18 months in Eastlondonlines boroughs, that’s eight per cent of all inspections in the area. To put that into context, in 2019, 4.5 per cent of food establishments nationwide failed food hygiene inspections.

Eastlondonlines has carried out an investigation into food hygiene to allow you, the consumer, to eat out – when life returns to normal – or order in at any time with confidence. Over the coming days, we will publish our findings and explore different areas of the food industry.

We will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the food industry and the increase in demand for food delivery services.

In addition, Eastlondonlines has gathered data from the Food Standards Agency, the council and many of our readers to aid our in-depth investigation.

Tune in over the next three days and follow #FoodForThought on Twitter and Instagram.
