Flip Out, one of the UK’s biggest adventure park companies, is developing a £2 million park in Croydon’s Centrale Shopping Centre which will open in summer 2021.
The 30,000-square-foot venue will include interactive features such as a glow in the dark ice rink, bumper cars, mini-golf and laser quest.
The park will create 75 new jobs and make use of an underused space within the shopping centre.
The location will be Flip Out’s second Super Centre in the UK, as they plan to welcome back their customers on 17 May 2021 when lockdown begins to ease. The centre will also provide the famous Flip Out sessions including hosted birthday parties, late-night discos, toddler safe and soft play activities, and group sleepovers.
Richard Beese, co-owner of Flip Out, said: “It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but now we want to give people an outlet to have some fun and still be safe.
“If you’ve been stuck at home bouncing off the walls in frustration, then what better way to blow off some steam with the family! The park will be due to open in the summer, depending on Government guidelines.
“This park is the first of its kind and is absolutely jam-packed with a multitude of fantastic activities, and we can’t wait for the people of Croydon to enjoy what’s on offer!”
A great opportunity for Croydon
With one of the largest populations of young people of any London borough, Croydon is a hotspot for development.
Sol Hossack, a 28-year-old telecommunications manager from Croydon, told Eastlondonlines: “I think it will bring in jobs and it will give people an opportunity to go enjoy themselves. I can’t wait to go! I think it’s a really good move for Croydon.”
Another resident, Kathryn Petty, a 21-year-old art student from Croydon, said: “It will really add something new and fun for younger people to do, as well as providing new revenue in the area. There is a lack of jobs right now due to the pandemic, and I think creating new job opportunities is really important right now – both for Croydon residents and the economy.”
