An elderly woman has died following a crash in South Croydon yesterday evening.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Addington Road and arrived at around 4:30pm but the 93-year-old had succumbed to serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident involved the elderly pedestrian and a van whose driver stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Police said the woman’s family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told Eastlondonlines: “We’ve put out an appeal and enquiries are ongoing…we hope to have more information as soon as possible.”
“In terms of identifying the victim, that’s in the hands of the family and when they are ready, it could take some time.”
Catford’s Serious Collision and Investigation Unit is leading an ongoing inquiry into the collision and has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “In particular, they would like to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on dash cam or other camera footage.”
