A man was airlifted to a south London hospital on Monday after being stabbed multiple times and left on a Croydon street.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Lower Coombe Street at 5:48pm after police officers came across a man who is believed to be in his thirties with multiple stab wounds.
The officers that found the injured man were able to provide emergency first aid until London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance arrived to airlift the man to hospital for treatment.
The injuries the man suffered are not regarded as life-threatening or life-changing, according to police.
Police are still looking for suspects of the attack as the incident was not captured on camera.
The police cordon had to be stretched across Lower Coombe Street to another road, causing disruption to traffic in the area.
At the site, a police tent was set up near a BMW with blood on its front grill.
The Metropolitan Police told MyLondon: “At 17:48hrs on Monday, 24 October officers on duty in Lower Coombe Street, Croydon came across an injured man with stab wounds. They provided emergency first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
“The man, who is believed to be aged in his 30s, was taken to a south London hospital and we await an update on his condition. It is believed the man was injured in an assault that took place immediately before officers arrived in the area
“Anyone who was in the vicinity and saw anything suspicious is asked to call 101, giving the reference 5624/24OCT. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
