Revisiting Queer Theatre 

Join Hackney Archives in their collaboration with Unfinished Histories as they revisit extracts from lesbian plays of the 70s and 80s. The event will be followed by a discussion with actors from the original productions and the audience on how the plays speak to today’s society.

Writing the 7 Senses – Creative Writing Workshop for Children 

This February half-term, Lewisham-based author and photographer Amelia B. Kyazze will lead a creative writing workshop for ages 8-12.  

Through music, photography, observations of nature, and humour, she aims to create a free and creative space where children can improve their skills and exercise their imaginations.  

As well as exploring different perspectives, the students will write about different cultures and settings in London and around the world as part of character-building exercises.

Murmuration 

Come and view Murmuration, an installation that has been hand-crafted by the Lewisham community and curated by artists Annika Cox and Alice Burnhope.

Murmuration explores the themes of connection, migration, belonging, creativity, and is a symbol of Lewisham’s people coming together. The piece is inspired by African proverb “When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind”.

Certain Blacks: Heroes Festival 2023 – L T Beauchamp

Certain Blacks, an East London arts development organisation is hosting the 9th edition of Heroes Festival to present performances from various diverse artists.

Come join them as they invite LT Beauchamp (aka Chicago Beau), an esteemed Chicago blues and jazz innovator who played on the 1970 album Certain Blacks by the Art Ensemble of Chicago, for a rare performance in London.

He will be accompanied by a band led by bass player Miles Danso, have readings from his work and a Q&A session.
