A cab driver was sentenced to 13 years in prison and a further seven years on his license for rape and two counts of sexual assault at Croydon Crown Court on March 16.

Homayon Ahmadi, the 33-year-old cab driver of Uxbridge, picked up a woman from a hospital in Croydon on April 19, 2021.

During the journey, Ahmadi pulled over to a garage and raped the woman, who was just discharged from the hospital and was in a vulnerable state.

The woman in her 40s reported the incident later that evening to the police, resulting in detectives immediately launching an investigation.

While the rape investigation was ongoing, the cab driver was reported to the police by another woman in her 20s for sexual assault, three months later.

On July 25, Ahmadi sexually assaulted two other women after picking them up from a nightclub in central London.

The 21-year-old woman said that during the journey Ahmadi stopped to buy whisky from an off-licence to further invite the women to his house.

When the women attempted to escape from the car, he grabbed both women and assaulted them before riding away from the scene in Hornsey Street, North London.

In his police interview, Ahmadi denied all of the offences.

A pencil case full of condoms and baby oil was found in his car during the investigation.

Detective Constable Natalie Alchin, who led the investigation, said: “Ahmadi is a predatory offender and we are pleased he is behind bars and unable to cause further harm.”

DC Alchin added that there could be other victims of Ahmadi who have not spoken to the police.
