Man arrested in connection to rape in Croydon street

A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in the early hours of Saturday morning at the intersection of London and Kidderminster Roads in West Croydon. 

The woman, in her thirties, was rushed to the hospital after reporting the incident to police. The 28-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and also taken to the hospital “as a precaution”. 

A crime scene was established.

Detective Sergeant Walter, who is leading the investigation, said: “I know the local community will be incredibly concerned to hear about this terrible incident. I want to offer my full reassurance that a thorough investigation is underway. Local residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area as we continue our enquiries.”

The police have urged members of the public to come forward with any information they might have by calling 101 with the reference number CAD 266/18November.
