It’s that time of year again when social media erupts with people’s Spotify wrapped, highlighting all the guilty pleasures, bizarre trends and songs you can’t believe you listened to 87 times.

But here at ELL we want to discover what actually is the song of the year from across all four boroughs.

We have compiled a shortlist of 20 songs suggested by journalists at Eastlondonlines and other top 50 lists. Our list ranges from hip hop, to rock, and unbelievably a newly released Beatles record.
