Spruce up your home this Christmas with a tree from these local retailers

The season of Advent begins today and Christmas already seems just around the corner. Our High Street and shopping centres are lit up, Winter Wonderland is open for business and every sandwich suddenly comes with cranberry sauce included.

No Christmas home is complete without a tree, and even though the angel vs. star debate is ongoing, there’s no denying a real one is the only way to go.

No need to worry if you’re yet to buy a festive fir. Here are all of the best retailers to buy your Christmas tree in the ELL boroughs.

Tower Hamlets

Pines and Needles

Pines and Needles is located in Tower Hamlets’ Victoria Park and sells fresh trees for both indoor and outdoor use. It also sells decorations like baubles and bulb lights, and offers a delivery service.

The self-named “Christmas Tree Specialists” have been featured in publications such as the Independent and the Telegraph, and claim to be the premier retailer of Christmas trees in London

Pines and Needles is open weekdays from 10am-10pm and weekends from 8am-8pm.

Columbia Road Flower Market

Stalls along Columbia Road Flower Market in Spitalfields sell a variety of freshly cut pine trees to spread Christmas cheer.

At the market you can also find gorgeous selection of festive flowers, such as poinsettias, as well as pine cones and berries to add sparkle to home-made wreaths.

It’s open every Sunday from 8am until 2pm.

Hackney

Hackney Wickmas

Hackney Wickmas trees has been running since 2020, offering trees as well as decorations and stockings.

It is located at Hackney Bridge this year, nestled amongst food stalls, bars and a Thursday night market.

Hackney Wickmas also donates trees to local causes.

Hackney Wickmas recently donated a Christmas tree to London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

Trees are collection only, and buyers can get £5 off with online code ‘wickmas’

The Christmas Forest

The Christmas Forest began in Richmond in 1998 and has since expanded with pop-up stores across London.

The Hackney branch is located at Saint Paul’s Church on Amhurst Road and is open weekdays from 9.30 until 5.

The Christmas Forest also works with The Earth Restoration Service to reverse deforestation and pollution

by planting trees in schools. It has also worked with TreeAid since 2006 to support African communities.

Lewisham

Clickmas Trees

Clickmas Trees in Crofton Park, Lewisham, offers premium Nordman Firs delivered straight to your door.

It promises that its trees will be fresh and full with minimal needle drop well into the new year.

Clickmas Trees is open from 8am until 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am until 6pm on Sundays.

Brockley Market

Christmas trees are available every Saturday at Brockley Market, located at Lewisham College car park. There’s also an array of artisan produce, perfect for gifting or as part of your seasonal feast.

They’re open 10am until 2pm.

Croydon

The Wine Cellar

Croydon’s best kept secret, The Wine Cellar, is also selling Cristmas trees, which start at just £25.

Whilst you’re there, you can also check out its selection of craft beers, fine wines and organic produce.

It’s open weekdays 6am until 11pm, and weekends from 7am until 11pm.

Addiscombe Fruit and Veg

Addiscombe Fruit and Veg is an independent green grocer, with trees ranging from £30 to £60.

It also sells a Christmas veg box for £20, with everything you could possibly need for your perfect roast.

It’s open Monday to Saturday 8am until 4pm and Sunday 8am until 2pm.
