Police release images in appeal over train driver assault

British Transport Police detectives have issued images they believe could help the investigation of an assault on a train driver. 

The incident involved a man smashing through the train driver’s door and repeatedly assaulting him at 11.55pm on Monday January 22.  

Following the incident, the man is believed to have left the train at Bromley By Bow London Underground Station in Tower Hamlets. 

BTP are appealing to speak with the man in the released images in connection with the assault, as they believe that would aid their investigation. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40. The reference number to quote is 710 of 22 January.  

Alternatively, anyone wishing to leave information anonymously can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. 

The train driver managed to safely bring the train to a stop despite the attack but has been left traumatised by what happened.
