The Brit Awards are a monumental music ceremony occurring every year with awards given out to an array of musicians from pop, dance, rap and grime artists.
One of the most influential awards is the Artist of the Year category, which historically split female and male artists but in 2022 the British Phonographic Industry decided to drop gendered categories. The same year, Adele took the title of Top Artist of 2022 following her comeback album 30.
Harry Styles took the title last year, along with Best Pop/ RnB Act, Song of the Year and Album of the Year with Harry’s House.
The winners and nominees are determined by the Brit Awards voting academy with over 1,000 members, which comprise record labels, publishers, managers, agents, media, and previous winners and nominees.
But here at ELL, we want to discover who actually is the artist of the year from across all four boroughs.
