Croydon bus timetable changes: March 2 bus route updates

Many bus schedules will be undergoing changes in Croydon today, March 2, due to changes by Transport for London. 

These changes are part of the London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s transport strategy aiming for 80 per cent of journeys take place by foot, public transport, or bike by 2041.  

The bus routes that will change within the borough of Croydon due to the introduction of new timetables are:  

Route 166 West Croydon – Epsom Hospital 

Route 166 will no longer make stops on Brighton road. Instead, Route 166 will run through Pampisford Road and Haling Park Road, replacing the 455 service route that has been withdrawn.  

Route 166 will also be re-routed between Swan and Sugar Loaf, South Croydon, and Purley Cross Tesco. 

For stops along these routes alternate bus numbers: 60, 312, 407 or 466 can be used instead.  

Route 312 Norwood Junction – Purley, Old Lodge Lane 

Route 312 will be extended beyond the South Croydon bus garage, through Brighton Road, and Purley Cross. The route will stop at Purley Station, and Tesco.  

The bus will also follow some of the routes of the canceled 455, via the Reedham Station, all the way to Old Lodge Lane.  

The buses are expected to run every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day time, and every 20 minutes on Sundays, and evenings.  

Route 434 Coulsdon, Ridgemount Avenue – Caterham Station 

Route 434 will no longer run through Foxley Hill Road, Beaumont Road, Higher Drive, Northwood Avenue, Oaks Road, Oaks Way, Park Road, Kenley Lane, Valley Road, Beverley Road, Hornchurch Hill and Whyteleafe Hill. 

A new bus route, 439, will cover these routes instead.  

Route 434 will serve stops to and from Caterham station, via the stations at Kentley, Whyteleafe, Upper Warlingham and Whyteleafe South.  

The buses will run every 30 minutes, from 7am to 8pm, throughout the week.  

Route 439 Waddon Marsh, Sainsbury’s – Whyteleafe South 

TfL is introducing a new bus route – 439, which will run through locations such as, Waddon Marsh, Sainsbury’s and Whyteleafe South, Wapses Lodge Roundabout.  

The 439 will also serve locations that were removed from the route of the 434, such as Foxley Hill Road, Beaumont Road, Higher Drive, Northwood Avenue, Oaks Road, Oaks Way, Park Road, Kenley Lane, Valley Road, Beverley Road, Hornchurch Hill and Whyteleafe Hill.  

The bus will run every 30 minutes between 7am and 8pm, all days of the week.  

Route 455 

Route 455 has been withdrawn by TfL, though the same stops will be served by other buses in the area.
