Leaping into a Lewisham Christmas: What to do and where to go this festive season

The festive season is here and with it come many local opportunities for gift buying, movie and pantomime watching, eating and drinking. Eastlondonlines has this year’s Lewisham Christmas rundown.

It’s not Christmas until the decorations are up, so if you’re looking for a real tree this year, shop in Lewisham.

In Beckenham Place Park there will be a pop-up tree sale in front of the mansion between November 20 and December 22, 10am to 6pm put on by Botton’s Family Funfairs  

Good Elf offer real Christmas tree delivery to Lewisham, with prices ranging from £44.99 for a 4-foot traditional tree plus £21.95 delivery, to £1,189 for a 10-foot decorated office tree hire. 

The Tesco superstore on Lewisham Road will also be selling Christmas trees throughout December. 

Clickmas trees are an online Christmas tree service with one of their three physical stores at the Community Library on Brockley Road

For performance lovers, Lewisham is providing films, theatre and music for everyone this December.

Widely renowned, panto-legend Susie McKenna has written and directed Sleeping Beauty, a pantomime with a modern twist which will be running from December 4 to New Years Eve at Lewisham’s Broadway Theatre. The production has provided 600 £1 tickets to Lewisham community groups and registered charities, such as food banks, refugees, young carers and more.

Blackheath Chamber Choir are performing RECAP, a Christmas concert on December 1 at 7.30pm at All Saints Church, Blackheath. Tickets are priced from £6 to £8. 

On December 3 at 7pm Lewisham scouts are performing Carols around the Campfire at Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre with £3 tickets. 

On December 12 at 6.45pm Lewisham libraries is hosting An Explosive Christmas Screening! of a surprise Christmas movie at Deptford lounge library for members.

Lewisham Choral Society are performing on December 21 at 7.30pm at St Mary the Virgin Church on Lewisham High Street. Tickets are still available and range from £2 to £16. 

The big market at Fox & Firkin will be from 12pm to 6pm on December 1. The organisers are on Instagram @thebigmarketlondon. 

A Christmas kids fair will run from 11am to 6pm, December 4 to January 2 – except December 6 – 8, 13 – 15 and Christmas Day – in front of the mansion in Beckenham Place Park, put on by Botton’s Family Funfairs

The Lewisham Polish Centre is hosting their Christmas fair on December 6 from 12pm to 4pm, which boasts of unique gifts, dishes and decorations

The Christmas market at Grove Park Community Library on December 7 from 12pm to 4pm has free entry and will feature handmade gifts, a raffle, mulled wine and Santa’s grotto. 

Sydenham library will be hosting its annual, free Christmas Fayre ‘Christmas in the Library’ on December 14 from 10am to 4pm. Head over to find hot drinks and sweet treats, gingerbread decorating and Santa himself.

On December 27, 30, January 2 and 3, Lewisham council and Dynamic coaching are running a free winter camp with games, football tournaments and free lunches for children eligible for free school meals, from 10am to 2pm at Sandhurst primary school.
