Sunday – Curry Festival @ Brick Lane
The annual festival returns to Brick Lane and Hanbury Street. Try a traditional dish from North India or Bangladesh from one of the many stalls and restaurants alongside a wealth of music and dance at the Baishakhi Mela (Bangladeshi New Year Festival). Monday – Comedy Bin @ Carnivale
Forget those Monday blues and prepare to laugh your socks off with a night of hilarity. This weekly stand-up comedy night features the cream of up and coming and established acts from the comedy circuit. Show starts at 8.00pm and entry is free. White Church Lane, E1.
Tuesday – The Strange Case of Dr Jekyl And Mr Hyde @ Arcola Theatre
Arcola Theatre presents a bold interpretation of the classic Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Arcola says: “A haunting ensemble represent the mysterious layers of Dr Jekyll’s mind as we witness Hyde’s darker throughts take a tighter hold and Dr Jekyll begin to lose control.”
If you’re a keen theatre-goer, the Arcola is set in a stunning converted factory in the heart of Hackney. The production starts at 8.00pm, with a second performance on Wednesday 11th May. Tickets cost £6.
Wednesday – Those Dancing Days @ XOYO
Live music from Stockholm favourites Those Dancing Days. NME described their most recent album Daydreams and Nightmares as: “Fizzing indie-pop to charm both the starry-eyed teen and the world weary indie connoisseur.”
