A 52-seat coach collided with a concrete barrier on the M25 at around 1.30am today, causing long delays for motorists in the Croydon area.
Six people sustained minor injuries and were taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill to receive treatment. The rest of the passengers were discharged at the scene.
The coach, photographed here by Surrey Road Police, had a smashed windscreen and significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Debris was strewn across the road following the crash between junctions 8 and 9.
The vehicle was transporting passengers from London back to Romania. Police, ambulance services, fire crews and representatives from Highways England assisted at the scene.
Three lanes were later re-opened on the motorway though one remained closed as damage to the barrier was inspected. Police warned travellers to expect long delays as investigations continued throughout the day.
No other vehicles were involved and the cause of the incident is unknown.
Police ask that anybody with information regarding the crash call 101, quoting incident reference P15195348.
