Lucy Mitchell, a Lewisham’s Community Engagement officer, told EastLondonlines: “The inaugural flower show came about after a suggestion by a park volunteer. Last year, the various plant competitions were popular among the residents. On this Sunday, the flower show will return with not only the competitions but also more interesting activities”.
The Woodland Trust has also confirmed their involvement by way of a ‘nature explorer’ event. Their aim is to raise awareness of the importance of woodlands and wildlife.
Local horticultural charity London Children’s Flower Society, will also be contributing to the show. The charity gives school children the opportunity to take an interest in gardening.
London Bee Keeper’s Association will also be on site, selling local honey and giving attendees an insight into the inner-workings of a beehive.
Anyone who is interested in the plant competitions can apply for registration here, Further information about Beckenham Place Park Flower Show can be found on their official Facebook or Twitter accounts.
