Teenager in critical condition after stabbing

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital after being stabbed and beaten with the seat of his own bicycle, in a brutal attack in Lewisham last week.

Police are still appealing for witnesses and information on the attack, which happened on Monday 6 December on Torridon Road near Catford. Five people have been arrested.

The victim was waiting for a bus with his girlfriend when the attack happened. He was stabbed in the chest, and beaten with a metal pole. The attackers also stole the boy’s push bike, and removed the seat to use as a weapon.

The victim escaped the scene and fled to Fordel Road with his girlfriend, where she was able to call an ambulance.  The 17-year-old remains in hospital. Police described his condition this weekend as “critical”.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 24-year-old man have been arrested for attempted murder. Another two, a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have been arrested for GBH. All have been released on police bail.
