Laconic Kiwi six-piece The Phoenix Foundation have crossed oceans to promote new record Buffalo and Scala is the last gig of the tour before festival season begins.
Psychadelic slacker pop full of wisecracks and a riot of major chords conjures up visions of heady sunshine and misty mountains that will have you packing up your suitcase and heading south of the equator.

Friday – The Incredible Edible Gingerbread House @ Brunswick Centre
Follow the breadcrumb trail to Brunswick Square’s incredible, edible Gingerbread house.
With a cupcake lawn, meringue clouds and a pond filled with sweets, the life-size structure will house gingerbread decorating workshops and storytelling, all in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Saturday – The Blitz Party @ Shoreditch Studios
Dust off your tea-dresses and escape the Anderson for a night of 1940s themed fun. The last Blitz party of the summer, wartime will descend on the East-End once more in honour of the 67th anniversary of D-Day.
A night of good old-fashioned 1940s frolics, there’ll be big band, swing and DJs spread across five rooms as well as a hog roast out the back.

Sunday – Wow Now @ Shoreditch Underground
The first exhibition to be housed in the dark depths of the old Shoreditch Tube Station, Wow Now is an international collaboration exploring urban art via subversive portraiture.
Referencing roots of the subway graffiti culture of old against East London’s former Shoreditch underground station, the collective document contemporary urban living in all its twisted glory.
A combination of paintings and sculpture look out for the live art installation Perfekt World where you can influence the subject matter and then watch as it is painted onto a 20ft wall somewhere in the backstreets in Vienna via a live weblink.

Monday – Happy Mondays @ Amersham Arms
Chortle away the day with an evening of comedy upstairs at the Amersham. Featuring live sets from Seann Walsh (Mock the Week, Michael MacIntyre’s comedy Roadshow) and Josh Widdicombe.
This preview of their Edinburgh show is guaranteed to get you laughing, making it the perfect remedy for those Monday evening blues.

Welcome in the Summer and take a dip in one of London’s last remaining outdoor swimming pools.
The Olympic size 50 metre pool originally opened in 1937, and is surrounded by a grade II listed art deco building. Over £3 million has been spent on restoration and the inclusion of a new state of the art gym and studios.
Often referred to as ‘Brixton’s Beach’, the lido is well known for its strong community spirit and relaxed atmosphere.

Battles are playing a second intimate headline slot in London, following on from their sold out show at the ICA.
