A teenager charged with the murder of a 43-year-old-woman is due to appear at the Old Bailey today.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with the fatal assault of a woman, believed to be his mother.
Police were called to a flat in Sandall House, Bow, on February 12, but the woman was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived. She had suffered severe head injuries and a stab wound to the chest.
The teenager was arrested at the scene and remanded in custody. He appeared at a youth court hearing at Stratford Magistrates Court on February 14.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
