Deptford X Fringe is calling for art submissions for 2014.

X Fringe began in 1998, and aims to promote contemporary art in Lewisham.

British contemporary artist Bob -also known as Roberta-Smith has posed the question: “What is the value of art?” and is asking for artwork that tackles this topic.

Smith hopes that people will come to Deptford to celebrate the arts, he said: “Fundamentally the arts are about all of our freedom of expression.”

Smith launched the Art Party with Crescent Arts in 2013, a collaborative organization of artists concerned about the Government diminishing the role of art and design within schools.

The Deptford X 2014 Fringe festival will take place from September 25, to October 5.

The deadline for applications is six pm June 23, 2014.
