UKIP were left embarrassed in Croydon earlier today as a steel band they had booked for an event walked out during their performance.

The right wing political party had promised to throw a “bold and vibrant” street carnival in the south London borough in an attempt to drum up voters ahead of Thursday’s European and local elections.

However, it would seem that musicians ‘Endurance Steel’ were not aware of who was formally hosting the event – and when it was revealed they simply packed up and called it a day.

The walkout came shortly after UKIP candidate for the borough, Winston McKenzie,  had clashed with protesters at the street party.
