Hackney Revealed: Illuminated Arts Festival  

A new festival showcasing local artists and creatives this winter. 250 local people have collaborated with 12 professional artists creating installations across multiple locations in Hackney. From a paper garden made up of origami lanterns and butterflies, to carnival groups and circus performers there is a full programme celebrating the vibrancy of Hackney.  

Where: Hackney Town Hall, St Augustine’s Tower, Hackney Church and the Tudor era Sutton House.

Christmas 2022 Light Switch On Party 

On November 16, lights will switch on at Old Spitalfields Christmas market, officially commencing the festive shopping period. The market is open seven days a week, up until Christmas Eve. Live music starts at 3 pm, with mulled wine and mince pies on offer. The lights will switch on at 5 pm.

Aami Bangali – From a Female Perspective  

A talk presented by female members of Brit Bangala remembers the women who fought for the Bangla language. The talk is followed by a discussion from the Bengali Britain panel followed by tea and samosas.

Friends of Bethnal Green Gardens – Bulb planting day 

Spring bulb planting organised by Friends of Bethnal Green. The planting session is an opportunity for families and children to make a difference to the park.

Migration Museum: Taking Care of Business mini-tour 

This exhibition focuses on how migrant entrepreneurs have formed an integral part of the British economy. Attendees can drop in for a short tour where each week a different theme or topic is explored.

The Albany: Church of Sound presents Kwame Bass 

This live music event is an ode to South London’s musical legacy, focusing on the sounds that were a response to police brutality and racial tension in Brixton in the 1980s.
