Three people were arrested after a car crashed into traffic lights and an electrical junction box in Hackney in the early hours of this morning.
Both the police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene.
Police said the car involved in the accident in Queensbridge Road was believed to have been stolen and a man was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen car, driving dangerously, and driving without insurance. Two others, another man and a woman, were also arrested on suspicion of allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen car.
The three were taken to east London hospitals to be treated for minor injuries, before being taken into custody. The road was closed in both directions and traffic was diverted, causing morning rush hour diversions.
Hackney Council said on X/Twitter, “A road traffic incident on Dalston Lane in the early hours of this morning means roads nearby remain closed. Thankfully nobody was hurt. We attended the scene with emergency service colleagues and our thanks go to them. Please avoid the area if you can.”
