As we look to the week ahead, Remembrance Sunday features prominently on our list. With some truly moving services taking place across London, there’s sure to be one near you. If that gets too heavy, you can always recline at a Shoreditch pillow cinema.
November 9 - Remembrance Service
The borough’s centenary service takes place at St John-at-Hackney Church Cenotaph. A wreath will be laid 20 minutes before the traditional 11:00am two-minute silence and followed by a march and salute outside Hackney town hall at 12:25pm.
November 6 - Pillow Cinema
Watching films is a great pastime. Sitting in beanbags is a great pastime. The two will be combined to make people very happy at a former Shoreditch tube station. For anyone willing to part with £20, Wes Anderson films or the Ryan Gosling “Gos-Fest” are on the agenda. For more information, click here.
November 9 - Blood Swept Lands & Seas of Red
“Blood Swept Lands & Seas of Red” is currently on show at the Tower of London where 888,246 poppies stand to represent each fallen British soldier in the First World War. There will be a two-minute silence conducted here that will live long in the memory.
November 6 - Theatre Gym
If going to the gym improves your physique, going to theatre gym improves your acting capabilities. If you’re feeling your stage skills getting a little creaky, head over. They’ll get you back into shape. For more information, click here.
November 9 - Remembrance Service
Fairfield Halls plays host to the southernmost of our memorial services. There will be a multi-faith service at 10:45am followed by a wreath laying at the Cenotaph in Katherine Street at 12:15am.
