East London pantomimes to get you in the festive spirit

If you need to boo and hiss and yell ‘He’s behind you!’ to get yourself into the Christmas spirit, or you fancy a Charles Dickens classic, here what the East London Lines area has to offer.

Sleeping Beauty, Hackney Empire theatre

Tickets: £10 – £36

This retelling of a fairytale classic plays at the Hackney Empire until January 8.

“Welcome to enchanted Hackneytopia; a land of fairies, unicorns and dragons where once upon a time, a princess is born. Spurned at the celebration party, malevolent wicked fairy Carabosse casts an evil spell which changes the Princess’s life forever. Will Princess Aurora take charge of her own destiny?”

 

Aladdin, Waddon Leisure Centre

Tickets: £11.50 – £16.50

Plenty of chances to boo and hiss at evil Abanazar and cheer on Aladdin and Princess Jasmine in this classic panto, starring CBeebies presenters Jane Deane and Abe Jarman.

Full of family fun, Aladdin plays Waddon Leisure Centre in Croydon until New Year’s Eve.

A Christmas Carol, Canada Water Culture Space

Tickets: £10-12

With live musicians and laughs aplenty, be prepared to participate in this interactive show.

This modern interpretation of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic plays until December 17 – so catch it quickly before it’s gone.

Supported by Tower Hamlets Council, Idea Store throughout the borough are staging two days of performances of the Christmas favourite.

Open Book Theatre Company are sticking to Victorian tradition with their interpretation of this classic tale.

Mother Goose, Wilton’s Music Hall

Tickets: £17.50 – £30

Running now until December 31, Wilton’s Music Hall are showcasing the pantomime classic, Mother Goose. Starring Roy Hudd and directed by his wife Debbie Flitcroft, Mother Goose has received rave reviews from The Guardian, The Daily Express and Time Out Theatre.
