A Croydon resident took home £125,000 from ITV show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Nick Parkhouse appeared on TV screens on Sunday where he won £125,000 with a nerve-wracking 50/50 gamble.
Parkhouse appeared on the show on October 6 where he finished on £16,000 but set to continue the following week. His journey then finished this Sunday where he finished on the high win.
The teacher from Croydon made it through the £32,000 and £64,000 questions without using one lifeline.
Parkhouse’s £125,000 question, and asked by host Jeremy Clarkson was ‘Which of these was a probe sent to Mars?’
The Croydon contestant used his final 50/50 lifeline, leaving him with A: ‘Pioneer 1’ or C: Viking 1’.
Parkhouse’s guessing of ‘C, Viking 1’, helped him secure £125,000.
The host asked the next question worth a quarter of a million pound, ‘Which of these islands is the largest by land area?’
The answers were ‘A: Japan’, ‘B: New Zealand’, ‘C: Philippines’ and ‘D: United Kingdom.’ With £93,000 at stake, the Croydon resident decided to take his previous winnings of £125,000.
During his first appearance on the show, the teacher was asked: “A tog rating is given to which of these household items?”
Parkhouse responded: “My wife does all the housework, I’m afraid.”
Viewers of the show were quick to remember of Parkhouse’s first appearance last Sunday and what made him a memorable figure for those watching.
