A cannabis factory with over 1000 plants and £20,000 in equipment has been closed down in Sanderstead, Croydon.
An investigation began into a detached house in the affluent West Hill area, after it was reported to police that an average 500 amps of electricity was being used at the property. Two people were arrested at the scene.
Leading officer Sergeant Phil Clifton told the Croydon Guardian: “Thanks to the prompt action of PC Mutti and PC Parker, a large drugs factory has been taken out of action and resulted in the charge and remand of two people. We will always look to act on information received from the public and I would ask residents who have concerns about crime in the area to contact us.”
When police with sniffer dogs searched the house, over 800 plants were found ready to be harvested and sold, with hundreds of other plants in an earlier stage of cultivation.
Traung Pham, 18 and Hoa Van Tran, 41 of no fixed abode, were found hiding in the loft of the premises after police carried out their search. They were subsequently arrested for cannabis cultivation and illegal diversion of electricity.
They appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates Court on February 7. They both pleaded guilty have been remanded in custody to appear at Croydon Crown Court for sentencing.
Godamn shame!! And can we say that it was ‘HERBS’ as in plants that were found? These natural plants were unprocessed at the time, ‘ready to be harvested’. So no processing, not even drying of the herbs had been done yet. Yet this whole story is sensational for no reason but to feed that Middle Class Angst, obsessed with ‘folk devils and moral panics’.
