About: This monthly gathering showcases some of the coolest cats on the jazz scene.

Remembrance Sunday ceremony

Date: November 11, 10:55am

Cost: free

Location: Lewisham High Street

About: One of two wreath-laying ceremonies in the borough (the other is at Upper Brockley Road). Residents are invited to visit the war memorial to share remembrance for those who have died in war, with a military band leading troops to and from Lewisham High Street and a two-minute silence at 11am.

 


WetYourSelf! Halloween Party

Date: October 30, 11pm – 5:30pm

Cost: £10 - £15

Location: Aquarium, 256 Old Street, Hoxton, EC1V

About: Fabric might have closed, but the WetYourSelf! Team is not discouraged by it and it is ready to bring the party to one of Shoreditch’s coolest venues.

Jazz night: Some Thing Presents Ben Higham and Paul Jolly

About: As part of London Jazz Festival, the trumpet duo will perform standard tunes and some improvised sets at Vortex, accompanied by Chris Dowding and Julie Kjaer.

The Hydra: Ben UFO all night long

Date: Friday 28th October

Location: Studio Spaces E1, 110 Pennington Street, Wapping, E1W2BB

About: The Hessle Audio head honcho, will be sharing his diverse record collection with those in attendance over the course of a marathon 7 hour set. Mr UFO’s all-nighter for The Hydra is an annual event and something that all dance music fans should experience at least once.

Diwali celebrations

Date: October 30, 4-10:15pm

Location: York Hall, 5 Old Ford Road, E2 9PJ and Gurdwara Sikh Temple, 43 Harley Grove, E3 2AT

About: You don’t have for be part of the Hindu, Sikh or Jain faiths to join the annual Festival of Light celebrations at this event that includes speeches, dance and song. A combined Diwali and Bonfire Night celebration will follow at the Sikh temple on Harley Grove.

Art of Dark – Halloween Theatre

Date: Saturday 29th October, 22pm-6am

Cost: £20

Location: Troxy, 490 Commercial Road, London E1 0HX

About: Hugely respected Romanian minimal masters Raresh and Praslea are set to smash Troxy to pieces with a 5 hour back to back session packed full of heads-down groovers. For those who wish to keep the party going, there is talk of an after party at a yet undisclosed location from 6am. For lovers of house music this is the pick of the parties over the course of this Halloween weekend.
